Wallace ran a gentle finger over Jeremy’s lips. “I don’t feel any fangs under there. I’m guessing you said no.”

“Uh-huh. I realized I could do more for them if I stayed human. Daylight stuff, for one. Protect them. Deal with the world in general.”

“And the sex,” Wallace said sardonically. “Let’s not forget about the sex.”

“I don’t know what your problem is. How many times do I have to say this? Nobody forced me. Nobody coerced me. Helping out with the blood lust, that was my idea.”
